Cookie Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Fern Fortune Ltd (“we”, “us”) uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies on fern-fortune.com (the “Site”). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. Local storage and session storage are related browser features that let a site save data on your device. Pixels, tags, and SDKs used inside embedded content may perform similar functions. Together, we refer to these as “cookies and similar technologies” in this policy.

2. Who is responsible for this Site?

Fern Fortune Ltd, Shop 214, Sylvia Park Shopping Centre, 286 Mount Wellington Highway, Mount Wellington, Auckland 1060, New Zealand, is responsible for technologies deployed directly on fern-fortune.com. Embedded demo games are controlled by their respective providers, who may set their own cookies when you interact with a game frame.

3. Technologies we use on fern-fortune.com

On our own pages we currently use client-side storage rather than traditional HTTP cookies for:

1. Age verification flag — remembers that you confirmed you are 20 or over so the age gate does not appear on every visit.
2. Cookie banner preference — stores whether you clicked Accept or Decline on our cookie notice.

These values are stored in your browser’s local storage under keys controlled by our Site scripts. They are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking by Fern Fortune.

4. Why we use these technologies

We use local storage on the Site for strictly necessary and preference-related purposes:

1. to comply with our age-restriction approach for New Zealand adults;
2. to record your response to the cookie banner;
3. to improve usability by avoiding repeated prompts on each page load;
4. to maintain basic consistency with our legal disclosures.

5. What we do not do

Fern Fortune does not deploy third-party advertising cookies on the Site for behavioural marketing. We do not use social media pixels on fern-fortune.com for retargeting. We do not sell cookie data to brokers. Analytics, if introduced in future, will be described in an updated version of this policy.

6. Third-party demo games

When you open a game page and load an embedded demo, the game studio or its hosting partner may set cookies or use local storage to authenticate the demo session, remember language settings, prevent fraud, or measure performance. Fern Fortune does not control the names, duration, or purposes of those technologies. You should consult the provider’s documentation where available.

7. Examples of third-party purposes

Providers may use cookies and similar tools to:

1. keep a demo session active while you play;
2. load game assets efficiently from content delivery networks;
3. apply jurisdictional or age-related settings required by the provider;
4. generate aggregated statistics about demo usage;
5. maintain security and prevent automated abuse of demo endpoints.

8. Duration of storage

Our age and cookie-banner entries in local storage remain until you clear site data for fern-fortune.com or until we change the storage keys in a Site update. Third-party cookies may be session-based (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent (remaining for a defined period). Check your browser’s developer tools or the provider’s policy for specific expiry times.

9. Your choices and browser controls

Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies and local storage. You can usually find these settings under Privacy, Security, or Site settings. Blocking all storage may prevent the age gate from remembering your confirmation and may cause our cookie banner to reappear each visit. Blocking third-party cookies may prevent some embedded demos from loading correctly.

10. How to reset Fern Fortune preferences

To clear our stored age and cookie choices:

1. open your browser settings for site data or privacy;
2. locate fern-fortune.com in the list of sites;
3. remove cookies and site data (including local storage) for that site;
4. reload the Site — you will see the age gate and cookie banner again.

11. Accept and Decline on our banner

Clicking Accept stores your acknowledgement of this policy and closes the banner. Clicking Decline also closes the banner and records that you did not accept; you may still browse static pages, but embedded games may rely on third-party storage that your browser controls separately. Neither choice affects real-money gambling because the Site does not offer it.

12. Relationship to the Privacy Act 2020

If cookie or storage data constitutes personal information under New Zealand law, we handle it in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Privacy Act 2020. You may contact us to ask what we store on our own origin (fern-fortune.com); we cannot retrieve data stored solely on third-party game domains.

13. Updates to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we change Site functionality, add games, or adjust legal requirements. The “Last updated” date will change accordingly. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Material changes may be communicated via a notice on the Site where appropriate.
